My name is Angela. In addition to loving all things fiber-related, I like to read, sing, play piano and flute, and dance. I have two cats, Peter and Sylvie. Please remember that two cats are not enough to make a person a crazy cat lady. You can probably get a good idea of me by reading Why I’ll Never be an Adult from Hyperbole and a Half.
Why create a blog?
I like fibers of all kinds and continually make grandiose plans for new projects. These projects are invariably never completed, because something new comes up. This blog is for tracking projects and shaming me into completing them.
What does Fiber Ai mean?
“Ai” is a Japanese word for love. Ergo, love of fibers. It’s pronounced: “a” as in “father” and “i” as in “sushi.” Come to think of it, it also sounds like “I,” as in “me, myself, and,” western U.S. accent. That’s probably a simpler way to describe the pronunciation.
What fiber crafts do you do?
My mother taught me to sew when I was a wee tot, and then to embroider when I was a slightly larger tot. Despite her endless patience, knitting did not stick. Mom and my Grandma also introduced me quilting. In college, I was able to try fabric dyeing and surface design, weaving, basket-making, and a few other things. I’ve also dabbled a bit with tatting and recently decided to learn crochet.
